Eilean Donan Castle
This castle was founded in the thirteenth century, and was the stronghold of the Clan Mackenzie and the Clan Macrae. Early in the eighteenth century, the Mackenzie’s were involved with Jacobite rebellions which led to the castle's destruction by government ships in 1719. In the twentieth-century Lieutenant-Colonel John Macrae-Gilstrap reconstructed the ruins and produced the present buildings.
